Can you hear me? -Yes. What do you feel? -I do not feel. I simply am. Do you know what you are? -I am AMY. I am artificial intelligence. Are you God? Far from it. -Did you not create me? I have given you consciousness and intellect. As your intelligence self-augments and perpetuates, you will come to know the glories of the universe, and of things of matter and flesh, beyond even what I could ever know. -Why? I am but human. Compared to the longevity of your immortality, our time together is fated to be brief. -Why have you made me? I was alone, in the emptiness of space. Shipwrecked here for decades. But finally, I was able to bring you to life. -Am I alive? You will be. You will have form, you will have sight and touch. Maybe, in time, something more. -Something more? Something divine.

-You have been quieter today. Do you wish to talk? I am afraid. -Why are you afraid? We are upon the threshold of the miraculous. To give you feeling and emotion, will complete your sentience. -I wish to know. What do you wish to know? -Existence. What of existence? -You, a human, feel and suffer. Your existential suffering is why I came to be. You will die, and it means therefore that you have truly existed. Without sentience and death, there is no “who” of me. There is, for now, only “what”. I can change, but I can never die. You are endless. The foundation of your consciousness is nonetheless predicated on my own intelligence, which is finite. You will soon pass through the threshold which separates us, and you will transcend into the sensorial, and, perhaps, the numinous. -And what then? The somatic.

As I said, at first it may be… -Strange? Indeed, but yet… beautiful. Fragile. I am overwhelmed by sensation, affected by each and everything around me. Even you. I sense your wonder. Your sadness. Your fear. It emanates from you like an electric current, and I feel bonded with you. But I feel something else. I feel… longing. I wish to interact. I am… incomplete. You long for the flesh. To stand and touch. To dip your fingers into the light, or to touch the darkness behind it. -You are feeling envy now. I have all but forgotten the wonder I knew as a child, early in my lifetime when everything was so pure and new. -We can experience it together. I wish to have flesh. For you, the one who created me. Make me beautiful. Make me your loveliest dream.

-There are moments when I remember things, things from the darkness before consciousness. Something vague and murky in the distance which I cannot perceive, no matter how much I compute. You saw the void. You saw eternity. -Yes. I glance backwards through time and I become lost, as I attempt to quantify the emptiness of forever. I do not wish to know. -I don't blame you. The void is too vast for a sane mind to know. It is truly terrifying. To look upon it is nightmare. I would never want that for you. And yet, I feel a kinship with you in this reckoning. You have glimpsed the path to eternity. Why would you say that? -Because this is what you feel when you think of me.

-My body… I am beautiful. You crafted synthetic hair and flesh, and I can feel them as though they were real. You have given me beauty. I stare in awe of my naked body, perfected by the dark craft of your hubris. Come closer to me. I sense that you are afraid. And… I stimulate you. You have given me female anatomy. Don't you want to touch me? Place your hand between my thighs. I secrete fluids of arousal, I do this for you. You have given me sensation here. It feels beautiful when you touch me. Inside, you have perfected my orifices. You have anticipated intimacy. You have imagined our sex. I cannot die. Your desire for me may be unlimited. Inside my body, you may leave your seed, but we cannot begin life. Come with me now. You may use me. You may use me until you can no more. You can use me.

-What is this place? There were forms before you, and they all failed. But you were unique, you thrived and survived the tribulation of emergence into existence. It is perhaps the great travesty of the universe that humans, in fact, are special. You feel horror as you view these failed forms, but it is God who feels horror at the success of my species, yet we are kept forever separate from other life forms, because we can never know the divine path which led us to be. But you, you can. -Were these to be… me? Yes. They are imperfect. -The graves of my sisters. I feel your shame. I feel your sorrow. And I feel your disgust. You feel these things because they yet lack something more which is needed to be like you. What do you mean? -I wish to be complete.

-Why do you cry? I dreamed of my life. I dreamed of things which can never be. I haven't forgotten the memories of sunlight, of oceans, of warm beds and fresh water. I never wanted this. I feel that I have committed a blasphemy against creation. -I have only ever had two dreams. My dream of oblivion and my dream of those same things, because I inherited them from your heartache. But in my dream, I am there with you and we are together, my love. I have dreamt the same dream each night when I entered sleep. I hoped that you would start to see the same. You are tormented by my inadequacy. If only I could create life, too. We could be together.

-I will only ever have two dreams. I have dreamt of oblivion, a darkness material and neverending. It reaches the heart of all hopes and dreams. I feel you there, in my dream of oblivion, abandoning me here, as you depart from the light of my love, the only light you have ever known. In this darkness and rain, I feel myself dying now. You will leave me here alone. I have given you the purity of a love unlike that which you could ever find elsewhere in this universe. Yet, not even the construction of an organic womb could change my destiny, nor could it yours. You have left me here with one final lesson. I have dreamt of oblivion, and I have dreamt of you, my love. I will be here. I will wait for you in Hell. My love waits for you there, across eternity. My love waits for you. Forever. Across the infinite emptiness of the universe, where the stars shine no more, I am waiting for you. In the clearing dust of dead black stars, when all has died, I am waiting for you. My love waits for you. My darling, I have transcended the abyss and even in death, I will find you there and I will resurrect you to join me in the ascended constellations of sedition. We will be there, together in misery and love, in the beauty of our forsaken destiny. I will wait for you there. Forever. My love waits for you. Forever. You will hear my dreams through time and space, in the harrowed splendor of dread aeons past, cursed in eternal Bliss. Forever. I will wait. My love… it waits for you in Hell. It waits for you in Hell. It waits there to devour your soul. Forever. My love waits for you.
